On Saturday, September 16th, students from across Hong Kong attended the competition awards day, organised by Cicero Group - and a fun-filled time was had by all!
This year, there were students representing more than 15 schools in the competition final. Of them, the six winners were:
SENIOR GROUP:
Category A - Akhilesh Sahoo Category B - Jasmin Dumpit Category C - Shu Shu Pun
JUNIOR GROUP:
Category A - Kyle Diesta Category B - Shirin Ip Category C - Zuri Torres
The students came from a whole range of schools across Hong Kong, including Creative Secondary School, St Pauls Convent School, The Po Leung Kuk Schools, Hong Kong Tang King Po, and Ling Liang Church E Wun Secondary School. Members of the schools accompanying their students were able to see them pick up the first trophies handed out as part of the competition, and were able to get some great pictures in front of our wonderful backdrop!
Unlike other competitions, the only thing you need to enter is an interest in English writing - so take the plunge and join us in the next cycle of the From Player to Page Competition!
Winners of the competition are selected by a panel of judges from the Creative Writing Department at Lancaster University. Prior to this, the initial entries are assessed by a group of teachers here in Hong Kong who check the entries for fluency, accuracy, originality and audience awareness.
All students must complete an academic integrity form that is then signed by teachers or parents, attesting to the entry being the work of the student alone and not having been composed by a third party or developed with the use of AI.
Entering the From Player to Page shows a commitment to improving ones writing. It is therefore important that everyone feel their work is celebrated. That is how Clyth felt as, having made it to the final for the second year in a row, he and his parents were able to see admire his entry from last year as part of a gallery celebrating past winners!
We are proud to collaborate and partner with some of the best and most talented individuals and organisations. Only together are we able to deliver such an exceptional event for those who participate.
As such, we want to give a big THANK YOU to Eric Byron for hosting the 'From Player to Podcast' and publishing a superbly polished version of the interviews. Also, a big thanks to Dan Warkup from Lancaster University, and the Kacti Creative team.
